Jewelry~A Gift From a Heavenly Friend
October 29, 2009 at 1:25 pm (Angels, Hope, Jesus, Salvation)
Have you ever had one of those moments when the world came crashing in, your prayers seemed like they were going no where, that God was not paying attention and you felt insignificant. How about …your pounding and kicking the door of heaven trying to be heard only to fall on your face in despair because you felt no one was listening.
This has been my week…. until yesterday.
Let me start over. My music minister lost his wife Dot to a horrible disease. I have watched this man stand strong in the Lord through out this terrible tragedy. I have never been sadder for someone about someone I didn’t even know.
Many women in my choir had close personal relationships with her and they loved her.
Sometimes I wish that I could have met her and received the same friendship, blessings and inspiration that she had given these women.
Now how does that relate to my basic breakdown….
We had a woman “powder” lunch yesterday. I was still in my funk and almost didn’t go. I felt empty, depressed and all around unworthy of company. My husband insisted that I go because goodness knows he didn’t know what to do with me.
I arrived a smile intact, not feeling so happy, but food was involved that always makes me happy and BBQ always makes me happy : ))
As the luncheon proceeded, Dick announced that they were going to have a raffle. Dick said that he felt that Dot would have liked it if he would give some of her jewelry away as gifts. Now Dot was a very successful Premier Jewelry representative. They had some inventory and he felt that they would make nice gifts for us ladies. But more than that he spoke about how much he missed her and that she would approve.
The point of the story is…. We were down to the last gift bag and they called my number, I jumped up and almost hurt myself. They presented me with a gift bag and I was so excited. It was like Christmas. The whole time I was so conscience that this used to belong to Dot.
I immediate put everything on, a beautiful necklace, earring and bracelet. Everyone said that it looked like me… I loved it.
But the best thing was, I walked out to my car after that lunch I realized that Dot had reached down through the heavens and personally gave me that gift. I really needed to know that someone was listening in the heavenly realms and that I did matter and I felt at that moment I was introduced to Dot’s loving and giving ways. I got a chance to feel the goodness and kindness the other woman had experienced from her. Thank you Jesus
So, Dot I know you are listening … thank you so much for the lifeline … from sister to sister.
For All You Baptist Out There~ The Old Rugged Cross~ A Walk Down Memory Lane

I was praying this morning and thinking about how cool would it be if, I could just hear the audible voice of God. Then I had to laugh because, I am so busy praying, talking, rambeling and thinking, if he was trying to say something I would probably interrupt LOL
So I decided to be still… and the Lord brought this old hymn into my head. For all you Baptist out there, how many times do you remember singing this one? Sadly when was the last time your heard or sung it. Many years ago at Atherton Road Baptist Church….lead by Pastor Huff… does that take me back, this song was often the invitational song.
So, this morning as I sang this song and really thought about the words, the one line that got me was . When my trophies at last I lay down… I will cling to the old rugged cross… love it
Ok.. so here you go I hope this blesses you as you read these words and maybe sing it out loud I promise it will touch your heart.
The Old Rugged Cross – Composed by Geourge Bennard
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
- Refrain:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Indoor Versus Outdoor Tanning
by: Angela Maroevich
The benefits of indoor tanning versus outdoor tanning are widely discussed in the cosmetic and health industries, It is ultimately up to you to decide which method is healthy and convenient for you.
When you visit an indoor tanning facility, your skin produces a tan in the same way that it does when you bask in the sun — through the absorption of ultraviolet light.
However, one of the dangers of outdoor tanning is exposing yourself to too much ultraviolet light. Climate changes in the atmosphere that has many of us slathering on sunblock and sunscreen before we step outside in the hot sun.
One of the benefits of indoor tanning is that it allows you to control the amount of UV light that you are exposed to, so that you do not get a sunburn or prepare your epidermis for a predisposition to skin cancer.
You cannot control harmful UV rays from the sun anymore than you can control the weather.
Compared to indoor tanning, outdoor tanning is actually one of the most unreliable ways to achieve that perfect tan. It is, however, a reliable way to achieve a sunburn. Waiting for a reddish burn to fade to a brown accelerates the aging process.
Indoor tanning equipment utilizes the same two kinds of ultraviolet light, UVA and UVB rays that are emitted by the sun. Indoor tanning procedures are highly regulated by government agencies in both Canada and the United States and the equipment is designed to mimic the effect of sunlight.
At a professional indoor tanning salon, exposure times are determined by equipment and trained professionals that take into account previous tanning sessions as well as the tanner’s skin type. This minimizes the possibility of the kind of skin damage that is common with outdoor tanning.
Convenience may also be a consideration when it comes to deciding whether indoor tanning versus outdoor tanning is best for you. Depending on weather conditions and government warnings that are issued about the strength of harmful UV rays emitted by the sun, it might not be possible for you to achieve that polished bronze look in time for that important meeting.
One of the main benefits of indoor tanning is that safe regular doses of ultraviolet light are prescribed for you in a controlled environment that suits your agenda.
Indoor tanning is also a great help for those suffering from diseases, such as psoriasis or osteoporosis, as UV rays assist the body in manufacturing the Vitamin D it needs to allay such conditions. This is a great benefit to individuals who need to “take their solar vitamins” regularly and are unable to do so on a rainy day.
A session in an indoor tanning facility is an intelligent way to maximize your health while at the same time minimizing your risk of sunburn.
You don’t want too much exposure to UV rays, but the many benefits of indoor tanning, which also include prevention against wrinkles, should be carefully considered the next time you are tempted to slather on sunblock and lie out in the sun.
